The Awesomeness that is Chickenfoot

Last night, Tim and I went to our first concert in a LOOOOONG time, to see the band Chickenfoot. For those of you that don't know, it's (from left to right) Michael Anthony, Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, and Chad Smith. It was a GREAT concert! Sammy may be 60, but he still ROCKS! Joe is a guitar god, Chad is great on drums, and Michael is a wizard on the bass. And Sammy still plays a bit too, but his main job is to sing, jump, and dance around.

To checkout the awesomeness that is Chickenfoot, go here, http://www.chickenfoot.us/. You will not be disappointed! I have their CD and listen to it almost everyday in my car. I soooo wish I could really play the guitar or bass, rather than the first 4 keys on my Guitar Hero guitar. Oh well, that's why we pay to see these guys, right?! :-)

Sept 14 Update

1. Saturday I ran in my first 5K race, in the rain. I finished (unofficially) at 42:20, and Lucy finished way before me. I haven't been able to find the official race results yet. It's the farthest I've ever run before, and it was NOT easy! Our next race (as a class) is on Oct 3rd. I'm so envious of those who make running look so easy! The first place guy, he finished in just over 18 minutes!!! Speed Racer......UGH!!!

2. Tim and I had breakfast after the race with Robert & Lucy, then met them later at the mall to go shopping for bargains at Macy's and Dillard's. We then proceeded to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen, then home to CRASH......very tired from the running and all the walking that day. Tim said he'd push me around the mall in a wheelchair, but we never saw any. LOL!!

3. The yearly Bunko pool party has been cancelled.......oh well! :-(

4. I had my follow-up with Baylor Scoliosis Center this morning. My neck has gotten much worse in the past 2 years, so it was good to have the second MRI, even though it cost me $500. I now have 2 herniated disks instead of 1, which also adds another vertebrae to the count (C4, C5, and C6). Great. I'm pretty sure that surgery will be in my not-too-distant future, but for now, they want to see if the physical therapy will help. My next appointment is in 6 weeks (Oct 28th).

5. It's been raining since Friday, but really not much today. Good! I'm sick of the rain right now. It's supposed to taper off and go away by Thursday. I've already run twice in the rain, and don't really want to again anytime soon.

Updates for last 2 weeks

Well, Dad and Tim had a good time 2 weekends ago at the boat show they went to at Lake Lewisville. They hob-nobbed with the attendees and also tried to go fishing, on both Saturday and Sunday, with no luck.

Sept 1st was my initial visit to the Baylor Scoliosis Center. They took new x-rays and compared them to the ones from 2006. Only a 3% change in the lumbar area. He didn't like the looks of my neck though. He sent me for an MRI, which was this past Saturday morning. My next appointment for him to compare this MRI to 2007's is on Sept 14. When that's done, he'll let us know what's in the cards for me concerning my neck. However, it's almost certain that there will be surgery in my future. In the meantime, I need physical therapy for my back, so my initial visit with them is tomorrow afternoon.

My running classes and social runs have been going well! We do our first 5K this Saturday morning. I hope I'll be able to finish it using intervals, since there's no way I can run/jog straight thru yet for that length of time. It's for our coach's church, so he'll be there to help us cross the finish line. My class's 5K goal race is on Oct 3rd, in Grapevine, called "The Vineyard Run", with wine tasting afterwards! Tim and Lucy are both running it with me. :-)

The annual Bunko pool party is on Sept 18, and then Tim & I go see Chickenfoot on Sept 21. Don't know WHY they have to play on a Monday, but I know I'll be tired at work the next day!

I've started applying for grad school, and will take GMAT review classes at TCU in October. I don't have a date set yet to take the GMAT. So far, I'm considering TCU and Univ of Dallas, to get my MBA.
