What happened in 2011

I know, I know.....I'm a BAD blogger!  Here's a mini-recap of our year, in a small nutshell....

February 10:  Kitty Girl passed away from Feline Leukemia (on my Dad's birthday)
Good Friday:  one day after my Grandpa's 86th birthday, he also passed away
June:  left a job of over 7 years to start a new one
August 7:  I turned 45 years old (gulp!!)
November:  Completed one more year of my MBA studies; one year left to go!!
December:  Caribbean Cruise to Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel, along with our 13th wedding anniversary

Not much else has happened outside than the normal day-to-day stuff.  Last September, we adopted a new kitty (Ginger) from a friend moving to Chicago, but having to travel weekly to San Francisco due to her new job.  Ginger can never replace Kitty Girl, but we love her just the same.  Whoever said that cats have no personality is CRAZY, or they just don't like cats.  Every pet we've had has had its own personality, and they are ALL different.  I love both cats and dogs, and cannot imagine my home without pets.  We love our pets dearly.

Today I get to have a filling replaced, in hopes of preventing more tooth cracking, which would lead to another root canal and crown.  $75 vs $900 + pain??  I'll take the filling any day!!

I had an awesome hot stone massage last night for the first time.  I won't be doing this every month, but perhaps every other month, since it's more expensive and takes 1.5 hrs.  But it was definitely worth it!

Looking forward to the upcoming holidays, and to see what 2012 brings.  :)

Books and movies...

I love to read, and a friend recently told me about a book called "Water for Elephants". The movie of this book will be out mid-April, starring Reese Witherspoon (my fav!) and Robert Pattinson (Edward from the Twilight series)!! So I MUST read the book before the movie comes out!

Another book I read is called "The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist". I know, creepy, but I'm intrigued by that stuff. And guess what? That movie comes out on Jan 28th! I never even knew it was being made into a (sensationalized, of course) movie until I saw a commercial earlier this month!

And I cannot wait until November, when the 4th Twilight movie makes its debut.......Breaking Dawn, Part 1!! :) And I plan on re-reading it, because it needs to be re-read before I see the movie. I've already forgotten a lot of what happens, except for the really major stuff.

It's gonna be a year for movies!! :)

UPDATE:  Loved both "Water for Elephants" and "Breaking Dawn Part 1", both of which I've seen twice now.  I've been catching up on reading and movies (or trying to) during my time off between semesters.

Mid-Jan 2011

I know.....I suck at blogging! Not like anyone really reads this anyway, maybe one person?
(Hi Kaira! :) ) Anyway, I was all set for my Christmas holidays, but what happens on our 12th wedding anniversary? I start getting the dreaded scratchy throat. Tim had been sick (coming home from school with those HS kid germs), and as hard as I tried NOT to get sick, I knew it was coming. I went to work semi-sick on Monday & Tuesday, then Wednesday morning.....well, work was just NOT going to happen. I spent the next 3 days in bed, preventing me from seeing my family on Christmas......I missed it all. I had already planned for my remaining vacation time off between Christmas and New Year's, so we had previously made reservations in Port Aransas. We didn't have to see anyone (no one to give my germs to), so we still went. My dog and FeLV cat did really well on the 8-hour trip, I was surprised! My Kitty Girl was so relaxed down in Port A, it was so funny! I thought the sea air would do me good....and it did. When we left on NYE, we went to see my family, but I had already missed a majority of the people. We had a relaxing weekend then went home on Sunday.

Fast forward til now: We're back at work, I am STILL coughing, I've started Spring semester at UD, and today I FINALLY went to the doctor about the cough. He put me on meds......I should've done this 2 weeks ago!! Hopefully this cough will be gone soon.

I can't believe it's already mid-January 2011!! Where the heck does the time go? My 2 months off from school was gone before I knew it, and I got absolutely nothing done that I had on my list. Now the first week of school has begun, and I'm trying to finish a scholarship application by Friday. And they only let us know 2 weeks ago that it was due on Jan 21st. Talk about pressure! I hope and pray for this scholarship, because grad school is expensive, and I'll be guaranteed a job with the DoD when I finish.

Next weekend I have some fun planned with my sister at an all-day scrapbook crop. However, I had to cancel my April vacation because I couldn't find anyone to go with me. :) I am sad, because I really wanted to hit the beach between semesters. Oh well, I guess we could try and remodel our kitchen instead?? :)

Until next time......
