New furniture and a trip to Houston

Yes, our new bedroom furniture comes today between 3-7pm.....I can't wait to see what it will look like in our bedroom! The only thing not arriving today is the cedar chest. Because it's a brand new item being carried by Rooms To Go, it won't arrive until April. :-(

I'm taking off work next Friday, and leaving early for Houston to see my yaya's and my BFF from high school Toni Lamb. I haven't seen her in 10 years because she now lives in LA, and I'm very excited to finally get to see her again (even though we talk via email and Facebook almost daily). Another girls weekend......WOOHOO!! :-)

Grateful today for: everything!!

Bummer.....

Well, I just heard today that I didn't get the job I was up for, so I guess it wasn't meant to be. Oh well, there are other opportunities out there, or maybe this will finally be the year I become a teacher?! Only time will tell.

But we get our new furniture on Saturday....yay! I'm just waiting for them to call and give us our 4-hour window.

And Toni's going to Houston next week, so next weekend I'm on my way down there to see her (finally!!). I can't wait!! :-)

Grateful today: that I still have a job, even though it is boring at times....

President's Day

It's just not fair that if you're not a government worker, you don't get to take these made up holidays!! Anyway, instead of eating at Terilli's on Friday night, we ate at the new Chili's at the AAC after the Stars game (which they won!). We got home around midnight and were pooped!
Our new bistro table and mattress were delivered on Saturday - WOOHOO!!! I just love sleeping on the new mattress!!!
Here's a picture of our bistro table, which is now in our breakfast room. The only thing missing from this picture is the 54" round glass we bought to sit on top.

Here are pictures of our new bedroom set and cedar chest, which will be delivered on the 28th:

I have always wanted a cedar chest, so I'm really excited to finally get one! I can't wait to see how the bedroom looks once the new furniture has arrived.
Grateful today for: Rooms To Go, sale prices, and 4-year interest-free financing!! :-)

It's Valentine's WEEKEND!!! :-)

We have a pretty good weekend lined up, starting tonite, which includes a Dallas Stars (NHL) game and dinner at Terrilli's on lower Greenville Ave, with our dear friends Robert & Lucy. Tomorrow we're having the first round of our furniture delivered (bistro table & barstools, and new mattress) - YAY!! Then Sunday we'll go to Mass, and back to Rooms To Go for the new bedroom furniture. I also have to do the usual cleaning and laundry, especially since next week my Yayas are coming to visit, and I need to have an extra-clean house! Which reminds me, I need to go to Bed Bath & Beyond for new sheets for our new mattress (deep pockets vs regular ones)!! I also need to catch up on my tivo'd shows, and finish "Breaking Dawn" so Tim can take it back to Carol in Houston next weekend, when he goes to visit my dad and go fishing.

Last weekend we attended a Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend in Irving, and it was a very good experience. Tim and I are much closer now, and we didn't know this beforehand, but at the end of Mass on Sunday afternoon, everyone renews their vows. Kinda fitting since it was on World Marriage Day, which we didn't even know existed! We encourage everyone to go, if you're ever able to, because it can only make you stronger as a couple. We are feeling better than normal now, and I have to say that I love my hubby very much!! :-)

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY ya'll!!!

Grateful today for: My husband Tim!! :-)

Unbelievable!!

I just heard something horrible today. A friend of ours from El Paso (thru Robert & Lucy), 2 of her brothers have been missing since the day before Thanksgiving. An anonymous call was received yesterday by the police, and their bodies were found in Juarez (MX), in the trunk of a car, with plastic bags over their heads. They were murdered, and they'd been there a while. It's so very sad to hear this news, but we already suspected as much when they haven't had any contact and couldn't find them. At least they now know for sure, but it's still so sad, and so many unanswered questions (i.e. WHY?). Please pray for her family's healing.

Grateful today for: that I don't live in Mexico, or near the border

Who cares about the Super Bowl?

Not me! And Bruce Springsteen as the half-time entertainment? PLEASE! I have never called what he does "singing"......UGH!! All I need to know is who wins, and I hope it's the Cardinals, because they've never been to the Super Bowl before.

But can you believe it's already Feb 1st?!?!? Where the heck did January go?? Granted I spent most of January sick, so I'm glad it's over!

We've decided on furniture and the exact mattress to get. It can't be soon enough because I'm waking up with back pain daily, and it SUCKS!! Now we just gotta go and purchase it, then schedule a pickup. And hopefully that decision will be made this week!

Less than 3 weeks till the Yaya's Road Trip to Dallas for Feb 20-22!! We are all counting down the days. We plan on living it up, for sure!

The other day I came across something fun to do this April, which will include me & Tim and Robert & Lucy. It's in Grapevine, and it's called the "Jazz Wine Train". For 3 hours we get to ride on a train while listening to live Jazz music, drinking wine, and eating food. How cool is that?!?! Hopefully it'll be as much fun as it sounds.

This week Tim got me an early Valentine's present - an XM radio receiver for my desk at work (I already have one at home, which I got myself for Christmas) - and I am loving it!!

Today we went to Mass and we saw 2 couples there from our Bible Study class, and my friend Yvonne from Bunko. Our church is so big, it's rare that we see anyone we know, except for Deacon Ray. There was a pregnant lady sitting next to me, and she also had the cutest little girl, about 2 years old. Sometimes it makes we wanna have kids, but there are so many that misbehave during church that it's hard to hear. They're still cute though. :-)

Grateful today for: a beautiful Sunday day (not cold!)
